- The final episodes of The Kitchen will celebrate “one final holiday season,” according to a press release
The Kitchen is ending after more than a decade.
Food Network’s Emmy-nominated cooking show will be concluding in December, the network announced on Monday, Oct. 20.
The series’ final episode will premiere on Saturday, Dec. 13 — almost 12 years after the show aired in January 2014.
Hosted by Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee Biegel, Jeff Mauro and Geoffrey Zakarian (plus frequent guest Alex Guarnaschelli), each episode of the show included several recipes, cooking tips and conversation about all things food. The series has aired nearly 500 episodes to date and, according to a press release, the final episodes of The Kitchen will celebrate “one final holiday season.”
Since 2014, the show has seen guests like Daniel Radcliffe, Martha Stewart, Trisha Yearwood and more celebrity chefs and Hollywood stars.
Variety reported on Oct. 20 that, according to a source close to production, the show’s cancellation comes from Food Network “evaluating resources and its priorities” and “Warner Bros. Discovery moves forward with its plans to split up the linear channels portion of the business from the streaming services and studio.”
Food Network has a slew of other festive content alongside The Kitchen’s final holiday season.
The network revealed on Oct. 8 that it will share more than 50 hours of seasonal episodes this holiday season from new and returning series.
Guy Fieri’s competition series has a brand-new holiday twist with Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas, Bobby Flay is back for Beat Bobby Flay: Holiday Throwdown and Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking will return for Hogwarts-loving viewers.
